Welcoming the newest member of the family: Charlie (neé Chelsea) is now officially ours to keep!

The story behind Charlie’s arrival is worth telling. A couple of weeks ago my wife happened to be in Oxford with time to kill. It was a nice sunny day, so she went to find a park to sit in. While she was sitting on the grass in the park, a retriever came running over to her and sat on her lap! The owners came running over, apologising for their dog’s behaviour, but Tash said it was fine, their dog Chelsea could probably smell our dog, Poppy, also a golden retriever. Tash also commented on how similar Chelsea looked to Poppy. She got talking to the woman, who told her that Chelsea was her brother’s dog, but that he was going to have to give her away because of a change in his circumstances. So of course, Tash offered to take her! For the last 2 weeks we’ve had Chelsea living with us while her owners decided whether they really could give her up, and yesterday they called over with all her papers and officially handed her over to us.

And the weirdest thing? Her papers explain why she looks so similar to Poppy – they’re sisters! (Not from the same litter though, Poppy is 8 months older than Charlie, as we decided to call her.) Some coincidence, eh?

Welcome, Charlie
