My 3 month old dog went to the vet last night after he was stung by something. After he had been taken to the back of the vet’s office, another 7 week old puppy came in. It’s owners let it walk around the floor in the vet. That puppy came up and smelled my hand for just a second. That puppy then went to the back of the office, and we got our dog back. Our dog walked on the floor for just a few seconds, and the owner of the sick puppy pet our dog for just a second. We then found out that the puppy had Parvo. Our dogs never came in direct contact, and the employee at the vet said Parvo is only transfered through fecal matter, but is there any chance our dog could have caught Parvo? I’m just paranoid, and want to make sure he’ll be ok.
If my puppy did catch Parvo, how soon would the symptoms begin showing?
The vet we were at was the night vet, not our typical vet. Our puppy has has 3 of his 4 puppy shots. He goes back in 3 weeks for his last set. Should that be enough to help him resist Parvo?

if the vet said he wont get it then he wont get it, parvo is just given thru fecal matter its not a disease that if he sneezed on your dog it would get it , parvo is just fecal airborne if i have to put it a way

So we have recently lost our beloved Family Dog (Last Friday) and we are all very upset about losing him! But we are going to look to the future and have decided that we will get a new Dog perhaps next Spring.
We have been considering all kind of breeds (Mainly because it helps keep our mind off the hurt) and I even asked a question on here about what Breeds would be good for our family.
We had all kinds of suggestions from German Shepherds to Labradors. So we are considering these.
BUT, a friend recently suggested to us about a Bernese Mountain Dog! They are suposedly good natured, quite calm, and good in a family enviroment which is good because there are kids in our family. They are also a beutiful looking breed.
We already know about possible health problems that this breed can aquire, and we are prepared for that. Since our previous Dog had suffered with Arthritis and other health problems in the past, but lived a good 13 years, so we managed to take good care of him :’) R.I.P Boz.
Anyway, what are your opinions on this breed? Is there any additional information that an owner would need to know? And what are your experiences with this breed? (If any)

So sorry about your dog I hope you believe you will see him again one day. he’s at rest and out of pain now.
The Bernese Mountain Dog is wonderful but one I would’nt consider because they prefer a cold climate I know you realise they orignated from Switzerland. The size is daunting however unlike the GSD it’s not the greatest guard dog ever.
There’s only one breed for me although I kept other dogs that I saved, my choice is the GSD and I have owned one for 50 years going on. My last because of my age is all I expected him to be a lot of fun easy to house train, he let himself in and out the back door, and a superb guard dog. The Labrador is also a working dog and we in the UK love this breed the cleverness of how they lead the blind is amazing, they are greedy plump dogs who are always happy also lovely but not a great guard dog.
I think whatever breed of dog you get it will be very lucky to have your family as his owners, you see most people on here want to get rid of their dogs but whatever dog you get it will be with you until he dies.

Either put a teaspoon of Olive Oil in his food OR give a hard boiled egg a day. Do not do both. I would suggest cutting down the boiled egg at least in half for easier ingestion.

My dogs seem attracted to some crotches more than others, I must admit. I think some women with bacterial vaginosis (ie a fishy odour) seem to attract sniffing dogs. If that’s not the problem, perhaps hormones?
I have also noticed that my dogs like sniffing around toddlers, so maybe nappies that hold urine are also interesting for dogs.

For work, I frequently travel into the countryside in Texas. Sometimes when passing through Fayette County I have a snack in a park near the river. A young adult pair of cats used to greet me and beg for food. I haven’t seen them in about a month and wonder what might have happened to them. Dogs, coyotes mean kids?
About two weeks ago I saw two kittens with similar coloring to the adults. Passing through the area today; I wondered if I would see the kittens. There were four!
It is interesting to note how different they are in behavior. Two of the kittens are willing to approach and request food. The other two are much more reserved. I wonder which behavior is more advantageous in that the shyer cats get less food but are also less at risk from people who might do them harm.
I really enjoyed the summer afternoon downpour. I’m not sure they shared my sentiments.

Hi there… you would need to check with India’s embassy which will provide the information. Generally, most countries require microchipping, up-to-date vaccinations, a health certification signed by a veterinarian to state your dog is healthy and free from disease such as Aujossky’s disease, Distemper, Rabies, Leishmaoiasies and Leptospirosies.
Additionally, be sure to contact the airline(s) because they have their strict guidelines for transporting pet animals. These guidelines must be met so that your pet will not be denied boarding.

My friend has a puppy (but old enough to know better by now I would think) who chews on everything when his owner is IN the house. He’s in a crate during the day when his owner is at school. He gets taken on a 1-2 mile walk EVERY DAY. About an hour after he’s recovered from the walk, he’s regained all of his energy and goes a little crazy at night. His owner has tried all sorts of approaches to get him to stop chewing things. He has plenty of chew toys, and when he’s told he can’t chew on furniture and speaker wires and whatnot, he’s given the chew toy instead. He plays with it for a minute then goes back to chewing on furniture. Sometimes he’ll even bite the owner (hard), thinking it’s a game. When he’s put into submission, it takes a good 15-20 minutes to calm him down. I can’t think of anymore tips for my friend because he seems to be doing everything consistently already. I’d love some dog training tips/suggestions to pass along.
Please read the details before answering. He DOES have chew toys and his owner DOES take him on long walks. He’s had his rabies shot (he was adopted from Humane Society), and his owner shows dominance by putting him into submission. I’ll definitely suggest the Dog Whisperer thing about owning the couch. I forgot to tell him about that, and it’s worked wonders on my own dogs. Keep ‘em coming!

give puppy chew toys because maybe his teeth are just growing out. keep him away from furniture, and give him a bone to distract him, its just a phase that will pass soon, if not….MUZZLE!!! lol jk. take him on long, tiring walks and he wont have energy to do anything but sleep afterwards. also, make sure to show him who’s boss!!!! just like a kid, he needs to be taught whats good and whats bad! dont let him get away with doing bad things (chewing up couch!)
