Question by ʇsıdɐɹb ǝɥʇ ʍǝɹpuɐ: Info on Pugs (dogs) 10 points?

This guy i know has a bunch of pug puppies, i still have to wait another 2 months before i can get one.

In the meantime, i need some info on em’. The last time i owned a dog, i was 8.

–How expensive are pugs–

-Average cost of dog food a month?

-What’s the best brand for food?

-Vet costs?

-How often am I suppose to take it to the vet?

-How hard is it to potty train a pug puppy?

Any extra info that would be helpful? :) Best answer goes to the poster with MOST helpful info and answering all my questions.

I’m far more concerned about a guy that has pug puppies. If they are not a recognized breeder this is a backyard breeder. His pups cannot be guarenteed and he is breeding them purely for money with little regard for the integrity of the breed. Please do your research here. NEVER buy from a BYB.

Food costs vary depending on activity level and food choice.

The best food is real food. Raw or cooked food for your animal. Better kibbles are Orijen, Fromm, Wellness, etc. Check out www.dogfoodanalysis.com. I’m not a big fan of Blue Buffalo although it is now popular. I feel it has too many grains in it. Avoid any food that contains by products.

Vet visits also vary due to when you need to have them vaccinated and spay or neutered. You can discuss this with your vet and discuss the costs. Vet costs vary depending on where you live. There is no industry standard.

Pug puppies are not any harder nor easier to train than any other puppy. Consistancy and praise.

You might want to consider fostering a pug in the interrim to see if this is a breed that you would really like to have. They are hilarious but they also snore and fart more than other breeds. This can be annoying to some. Their snores can reach deafening levels.

Hope that helps.
