Question by Carmel: Can you feed a 10 week old american staffy adult dog food for small dogs?
My brother has a 10 week old blue American staffy and he’s a little boy. He’s beautiful but the only problem is he loves my 7 year old cavoodles dog food. The staffy has his own food which is a lamb based dog food which is what he’s meant to be on but my brother keeps giving him my older dogs food which is a food for adult dogs that are of a small breed and staffies are not small breeds. Because of this the puppy keeps getting really lumpy and runny poos and they really smell. He also gets a lot of gas and I work at a pet shop so I tell my brother he shouldn’t be doing that but he doesn’t listen to me and does it regardless. I just wanted to get a second opinion.. Any helpers? Please?

That’s not the best choice, no. Puppy food is formulated to give them the extra protein, fat, and calcium they need to grow properly. And it’s crucial that all puppies get some type of “puppy formula” food until they are at least 12 months old, some vets suggest 18 months, but that’s a matter of opinion.
Stress to your brother that if he isn’t properly fed at the beginning, he WILL develop severe health issues later: poor joints, fragile bones, weak teeth, etc. Those things will definitely run up your vet bills.
If your brother can’t feed your dog the right food, tell him not to feed your puppy. It’s that simple.
